Everyone in the Rangeview / Noordheuwel / Roodekrans that had issues before to connect either (WP) West Point or (SC) Sircastle; we are now planning a high site that will solve the problem.

I urgently request that all of you that is interested to connect to this new high site (still un-named) to get in contact with me to discuss this further,
I've already identified some users that can use this site...

Please PM me your name, e-mail and telephone number, we will have a planning meeting on Sat 7 Nov. around 10am (Meeting location to be confirmed) to present the plan forward and hopefully get enough commitment towards this project.

Plot it one the KML if you don't mind - then at least we can see what the LOS is going to be like.

the location is (RK) Roodekrans...

Here is the proposed footprint on the (RK) Roodekrans site...
this is not set in stone, but will give you an idea of what the first phase coverage will be...

we will have a 5.8GHz 120deg 15Db Sector, with the middle of the sector facing towards the KFC (Friendly Grocer) in Noordheuwel x 4

Hi bkasselman

Nice Initiative. Are you going to go to (WP) for Backhaul only. From the LOS Calculator, It looks like you will have good LOS to (RB) Randburg HighSite. If You Go to (WP) and (RB) for Backhauls, you will increase the backhaul resiliance of the your Highsite (RK) as well as (SC) and (WP).

Atti2de, would this not be a better idea than upgrading (NC) to an Nstreame Link.

Toby, i see what you say about Randburg, but i doubt that we have good LOS since there is a little hill preventing us to see Sircastle , so in turn we will have the same issue to see Randburg -

The only current highsite you have LOS to is (WP) West Point.

This is a problem because we cannot add ANYTHING to WP. You are going to have to link up to some highsite somewhere.

Maybe have a look at this?

Atti2de, the alternative is for us then to connect to fragtion, the question is if there is a grid/sector facing RK, ???

Are you Sure that (RK) Cannot see (RB). Do a Line of Sight Calc on the LOS section of the WUGPLOTTER.

I see a Potential clear line of Sight.
(RK) to (RB) has a Bearing of 268 degrees
(RK) to (SC) has a bearing of 286 degrees.

The are in different directions from (RK)
If some of the (WP) people move to (RK) you may then be able to link (RK) to (WP) which would then increase resiliance for the Users of the following highsites.

RK, WP, SC, and even NC, they will all effectively have two routes out of the West Rand to the rest of the WUG.

See link below.

Toby - i've uploaded 2 extra images to the gallary - one is a GE image with some editing on it, and the other is the Wug.za.net Los pic that i've cropted to show the problem...

http://www.wug.za.net/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=21026

you will see there is no los to RB otherwise we would have connected to SC...

Question

Ok, now I see it. A Small little hill at your end stuffs you up. So, in other words you have to look in a 180 degrees radius away from that line of little hills towards Pretoria, Magalies, Krugersdorp etc. I Suppose Grand Central is also out of the question.

Does this also have the "little" Hill at your end

Any chance that we can get the Monument and Krugersdorp North areas in the picture too?
