I am part of a Neighborhood Watch and we are looking into technology to help fight crime and the one thing that comes to mind is wireless cameras.

The first question of course is will this be legal under the current legislation or will we require some sort of license?

Question 2 is if it is legal will this be allowed on the WUG?

Hi,

You would need your own license, but as a non-profit organisation you should be able to obtain one without too much trouble.

We couldn't allow you to use Jawug for this, since Jawug will not be held responsible for any faults, and there are no SLA's.
Things break all the time on Jawug, and we wouldn't want you relying on Jawug for the safety of your neighborhood. I hope you understand.

It would be in your best interests to operate your cctv network as a seperate network, simply for stability and security reasons.
If you wanted, you could link your network in to Jawug, but only as a "leaf" network, where traffic between your devices will stay on your network.

Regards,
daffy

We never took the idea any further. So we never applied for the licence.
