Great idea.

However, I had a signal test done and i had a -87 signal. It should have been better but if one draws a line from RV to my place "sean hearder" the WUG signal that is shown in google earth has the one edge in line with me - if that doesnt make sense (LOL) think of it like this - if you were driving down the highway you would be driving on the shoulder. Not much road and not much speed...

So, unless the grid is turned a couple of degrees toward me - or another added etc etc etc etc, it is pointless for me to buy any equipment - regardless of what i should buy or where i should mount it...

Sad Sad Sad

please remembers the following:
1. the signal test was done with a 24dbi grid
2. the grid is on a short pole
3. the pole is held in hands, making it unstable

Standard PTAWUG kit includes a 27dbi grid - double the strength of a 24dbi, you will install it on a stable long pole on your roof.

Signal test is only to confirm that you have line of sight.

RV is full, nothing can be added there.

-87 is fine for a signal test, using proper kit at a stable mounting the signal will increase drastically.

Just getting back to one of Roan's comments,
Quote:

The biggest pro is that my ping to CSS is 5 most of the time although my signal is only -75. It is because the pc has more speed than a RouterBOARD.

This is not true at all, you would have the same latency if you had a routerboard, also running gigabit to the pc does nothing towards latency to your CSS server.

Do you think this method will be cheaper to use then buying the original hardware.?
