Hey guys.
I am new to all this. i have done all the google earth and LOS test. I have LOS of BJU, lots of others just BJU looks to be the one every1 connects to so i assume its connected to ptawug etc.

Now, i am at work so i cant get on IRC. So i have to do all through the forum as i have moved and no internet at home anymore:(.

I am really interested in joining as i want internet but will rather wait as i dont wanna sign a contract and 2 months from now all the deals come out on SEACOM.

Now i am +-6.5 from BJU, and the next step on the getting started is hardware, i have NO idea on where to start other than asking. No clue on anything actually haha.

Please help and try to avoiding sending me to IRC as i cannot get on from work:(

Thanks

Hi Ryansta,

The best next thing for you to do is to take photo's from ur roof/ mounting point. A nice 360 degree sweep would be awesome.

Insert it here and let's have a look. What is your location called (in Google Earth)?

hey guys sorry havent manage pics yet wanted to wait for cash, so hopefully at the beginning of October, unless theres a place to buy and pay month installments?

My point is called House on google earth, i then realised it needs to be more specific, so i changed it to Ryansta/'s house, but i downloaded the kml this morning and it wasnt changed. To find it look for "genzo" which is right by my "House" location on google earth.

I only have an iphone as a camera and i took pics of landscapes but ya not too good, are the pics important?

Thanks

Hey Ryansta,
Yes you will have to purchase a 5.8 grid to connect to BJU from where you are now. There is also a guy in fourways (plotted as bar1) that wants to connect, and is pretty close to you. So make sure you get something that you can expand with. http://mailer.miro.co.za/miro_add_4_wireless_kit.jpg
Is the kinda kit you should get,

Do you have any LOS photo's that we can look at?

Paul,

I urge you to get a Routerboard 433AH, instead of the 411.
It gives you the ability to slot in extra radios in future, which will enable you to connect to multiple sites if you want, or to offer access to others around you.
