Once you have established that you can connect to a WUG or would like to start your own WUG we recommend that you use one of the following firmwares if you intend using a Linksys WRT.
Standard Linksys can be used on the WRTs to connect to the WUG however it is not an interface that is geared for external links
thus does not exploit the full functionality of your radio and operating system.
The following firmwares have been tested and successfully used on the WRT54G and WRT54GL's.
All the WRT firmware's are based on OpenWRT with different ways to configure the system and different user interfaces to do so.
All can be used to connect its up to your personal preference.
Please make sure you do not have a Version 5 WRT as these will not work and will potentially render your WRT useless (brick it) - We take no responsibility for this!! Note that by flashing your WRT with non standard firmware you are voiding your warranty.
If you have bought a RouterBoard it is most likely that you have RouterOS on it. We do not recommend you use anything other than RouterOS on a routerboard.
For more advanced users who wish to use a PC-Router as a way to connect to a wug, RouterOS is the recommended software to use.
If you have Router OS installed on your PC-router or RouterBoard it provides a fantastic user interface to configure the
operating system called WinBox. You can download it HERE
