Hey guys its Wugmeet time again and it's an important Wugmeet this time.

The Wugmeet will be held on the 1st August 2009 and will be our AGM. It is very important for all members to be there. Please register your attendance at http://www.wug.za.net/wugmeet

JAWUG has been formalised as an NPO and is in the process of registering with SARS. AS an NPO this entitles us to a lot of great things, one being peering with other NPO networks such as Tenet.

With the formalisation there is an on-going need for funds as with any social group, which is why there will be an introduction of a membership fee. All moneys paid into the network will be documented and can be traced as to where the money was allocated to, for example highsite upgrades and new highsites. The membership fee will payable before the AGM and entitle you to a vote in electing the Management Committee (Mancom).

The annual fee will be R360 per year. This is less than R1 per day! The annual fee will be discounted to R300 if you pay before the end of August 2009.

A 50% discount is available for students who can produce a valid student card. That means R180 per year or R150 if they pay before the end of August 2009.

There will be the option of only paying R30 of your membership fee on the day of the AGM as a joining fee. This will allow you to participate in the meeting fully. The balance of your annual fee should be paid by the end of August.

Please note that only paid up members will be allowed participate in the AGM, vote in the ManCom election or stand for election to ManCom. The Wugmeet itself will however been open to anyone that would like to visit.

The main item on the agenda for the meeting is the election of the six members for the 2009/2010 Management Committee. Nominations are open - please post nominations on the intranet wiki at http://172.16.1.1/mwiki/index.php/Mancom_nominations_2009.

There will also be an introduction of a Code of Conduct on the network which active members will need to sign and adhere to (this will all be part of formalisation process)

The Braai is open to anyone that would like to attend and is geared towards any new-comers that would like to see how the network works. It a good way to put faces to names if you are already active on the network. We will be having some great give-aways and raffles provided by Uniterm so there is yet another reason to attend! A lot of guys also bring unwanted hardware (PCs, wifi equipment) they wish to sell.

So bring yourself some food and drinks and be part of one of South Africa's largest wireless community. 2 Weeks ago Jawug made a bit of history in doing the first cross-provincial link all the way down to Potch. (PCN - Potchefstroom Community Network) there will be a bit more info in our quaterly newsletter.

If you have access to any highsites or high buildings that would be beneficial to the network we also urge you to attend. The network is perfectly legal and there should be no fear in putting up one of our nodes.

The meet will be held at WITS university outside the Genmin labs, please check the link http://www.wug.za.net/wugmeet/ for details

See you there!
